Stage play "Rusted Armor" originated from a play
and was developed into a multi-media project. "Gaiden
- Ao no Fukurou", which is a spin-off of the main story that has been
performed for 2 times (2017 and 2019), will be performed once at the Mixalive
TOKYO Theater Mixa, a newly opened theater in Tokyo, Ikebukuro. We talked to an
actor first appeared in the stage play this time, Nakada Hiroki, who will
appear as the second one of the "Tachibana Brothers", Tachibana
Shinonome.
―― What do you think when deciding to participate in
"Rusted Armor"?
Although being in a 2.5D work, but this is "reversed
2.5D". It originated from a stage play, then created anime and comicalized
from it. I think this is a new experimental work, so I'm so happy to be
involved with them. I saw the first and second stages, it encapsulated the best
of current entertainment products, and I thought that their world view was
wonderful and they seemed to be simply interesting. I feel very excited.
―― What is "The best of current entertainment products"?
It includes song, action, history, wonderful music,... all
of them (lol). I often appear in 2.5D works, but I always want to break my
public image in a good way. I feel that there is something that can be fought ,
playable, expressible, and made (in the play) because this is the origin of
this project.
―― By the way, what is the point of "Breaking in a good
way"?
It's difficult to put it into words, but the 2.5D works are
premised on having the appearance, the voice, the character, and so on. There
is only one "answer" there. However, because this is a 2D product,
there will be changes when a real person performs on stage, and also new
personalities will be born when I immerse myself into the character. I think
there will be parts where I can fight in an original way.
―― Is that so? What is your story about this time?
"Tachibana Brothers" related to Saikashuu's past
(the group origin story's main character, Magoichi, belongs to), but whether we
are enemies or not, why we are three brothers, how we get involved with Saikashuu,
that's the interesting part of this story... (lol)
―― (lol). What a story to look forward to! So, Nakada-san,
how did you feel after reading the script?
I felt sad. In the stage play of this project is an era in
which people have to exchange their whole lives. That's why I really want to
dedicate my life to important things. I feel so dramatic.
―― How is the role you play, Tachibana Shinonome?
In short, he's so strong. It is overwhelming strength. We
hope you enjoy the exchange between our three brothers. If you look at the key
visuals, they looked like they were a bit arrogant, but they have their justice
and have something they want to protect.
―― Talking about this work, weapon is one of the most
attractive, but looking at the key visual, it looks cool.
It doesn't look cool, it's really cool! (lol) What I have is
a special long sword. The weapon of the eldest brother, Mifuru (Sakurai Keito)
looks like a normal bow, but it's not just that. The weapon of the third
brother, Hayato (Tomizono Rikiya) is the most orthodox. I think the difference
in action comes from weapons and I'm looking forward to it. Looking at the main
story, there are things like deathblows that are cool, so we are thinking that
we want to do it. (lol)
―― I am also looking forward to it! You've already
considered Sakurai-san and Tomizono-san as your sworn brothers.
Yes, from the first time we met, we were able to understand
each other so easily, that we didn't think it was the first time. If I can
deepen our friendship from the first day, I think that our bond will be further
strengthened by training. Brother's bond is very important in this project.
―― It looks like you really expect it
Believe that everything will be okay. Sakurai-san told me
"If it's with you two, everything will be fine". I also felt like
that, so I thought it was a good start.
―― How do you feel about being a new character?
Because we will enter the place where there is the world
view created from the first performance and the bond of Saikashuu, we intend to
practice with a partner of higher skill. But I want to separate and stir it in
a good way. I think the past of each of Saikashuu drawn in this work is the
first visible part, so I thought it would be good if we could draw their lifestyle.
―― I'm looking forward to it. This is your first tag with
the director of performance script, Motoyoshi Tsuneyasu-san.
Actually, before, I met Motoyoshi-san in the work where he
was an assistant director. At that time, he told me "I wish we could work
together someday".
―― That's a nice reunion!
Yes. Since then, I have seen unilaterally the works directed
by Motoyoshi-san, and I feel that there is a worldview that only Motoyoshi-san
can create. I'm looking forward to it and it's also pressure.
―― What is Motoyoshi-san's worldview?
Delicate and
beautiful. It also has fragility. Also, some "good betrayal" are
scattered around. When watching it, I went from the thought "It is
so" to "Eh?". The charm is in what you cannot imagine. It's
sharp and attacking. I'm so excited.
―― What kind of “reversed 2.5D” work do you want to make
with Motoyoshi-san?
This is original, but I want to create something that seems
to have an origin work. Because it's reversed 2.5D, I think I can paint a deep
image and life of a person that reflects my experience and what I've
accumulated in the training sessions. Getting along step by step.
―― Nakada-san has appeared a lot in 2.5D works, but I think
it started from the point of "reproducing". After that, through
various works, I think that you can now identify the “attack” line that you
just mentioned. Is there anything that interests you?
First of all, there is only one correct answer. It is
challenging and interesting that the closer you get there, the more you like
the original. It is major premise, those who love the character may say,
"So there is such an aspect", I think that it's another interesting
thing. Therefore, I think it's "depth".
―― Is it the depth of being played by humans?
Yes. I hope I can show the process that person has lived.
―― I'm looking forward to the stage!
